The Carrier HT32BH857 Crankcase Heater prevents liquid refrigerant from migrating into compressor crankcase oil during system shutdowns. Wrapped directly around the lower compressor shell within outdoor condensing units in HVAC systems, the electrical heating element applies low-wattage continuous heat to the oil reservoir. Maintaining warm oil temperatures heats out the residual liquid refrigerant trapped in the sump, ensuring clean lubricant delivery upon startup. Controlling refrigerant dilution protects compressor bearings from washouts, reduces initial starting torque load, and supports smooth compressor lubrication during cool conditions restarts.
