Its formulation fills surface irregularities between closely fitted metal flanges, creating a flexible seal that blocks fluid leakage through the joint. The compound is applied to the fabricated surfacing layer before flange is secured. In HVAC systems it seals compatible piping and equipment joints where a formed gasket is not required, supporting fluid containment, reducing leakage paths and maintaining the intended sealed connection during normal heating, cooling, and refrigeration operation.
