Description
The Copeland Comfort Control (Alco) 066549 Externally Equalized TXV regulates liquid refrigerant flow into 5-ton evaporator coils in commercial and residential cooling equipment. Installed in the liquid line using 3/8-inch inlet and 1/2-inch outlet sweat connections in HVAC systems, it uses a 5-foot capillary tube and external equalizer line to sense evaporator conditions. The remote sensing bulb measures suction line temperature while the equalizer line monitor coil pressure, balancing both forces against an internal spring to adjust the metering orifice. Modulating refrigerant expansion maintains proper evaporator superheat, controls refrigerant flow rates, and supports efficient thermal transfer across changing system loads.
